FAQ

These are some of our frequently asked questions regarding Plunge and Plunge Pro.

Setup is truly plug-and-plunge. All you will need is a sturdy surface to place the Plunge on and a standard GFCI 110 outlet nearby. Most of the setup time is waiting for it to fill with water. Setup is slightly different depending on the model you have. Check out our quick start guides and setup videos.

All Plunge models can fit through a standard 30” doorway by being turned on its side.

Plunges are suggested to be placed 16" away from a wall to allow access to the components and for proper chiller ventilation.

Please see our setup page for images showing all Plunge dimensions.

The Plunge gets all the way down to 39 degrees. Say goodbye to those bags of ice!

The Standard Plunge uses a ¼ HP chiller that cools the water about 2-4 degrees per hour for most locations

The Pro/Com/XL Plunges use a 1 HP chiller that cools the water about 6-8 degrees per hour.

The standard Plunge is great for most people 6’2” and under to submerge past their shoulders comfortably. The XL is great for anyone that is 6’3” or taller. The XL is also great for tandem plunging.

No. Each Plunge comes with a robust filtration system that includes: uv, ozone, and a 5 micron filter. With our maintenance pack, you can have crystal clear water for 6 months or longer. No more wasting water!

Standard Plunge: Residential only. Good for indoor, or outdoor placement. The standard Plunge will hold temp to 40's even in the peak of summer heat.

Pro Plunge: Residential use only. The Pro option upgrades the chiller to 3X the cooling power. The stronger chiller is a bit more noisy and is suggested for outdoor use only. For those that are noise sensitive consider placing Pro Models away from living areas. If you want 39-40 degree water all the time and you are in an extremely hot climate, we recommend looking into our Cold Plunge Pro.

Hot & Cold Plunge: The Hot & Cold Plunge option allows the Plunge to transform into a hot tub (up to 103F)! If you live somewhere with below freezing weather and plan to put it outside, you'll need to upgrade to the Hot & Cold Plunge to prevent ice from forming inside the pipes.

Commercial: Our Commercial Plunge Pro is the option for you if you are going to use the Plunge in a commercial setting. It comes with everything as our Plunge Pro model, but also includes a more robust pump and a commercial warranty. All Plunges that are not Commercial Plunges used in a commercial setting will void factory warranty.

Yes! The Plunge is designed to run in any environment.

Locations with extreme heat

The standard Plunge will work great, but may be unable to keep the water at 39 degrees during long stretches of extreme heat. If you would like your Plunge to stay at 39 degrees no matter the weather, the Pro model might be the Plunge for you. The Pro Chillers have more horsepower which produces a bit more noise. For those that are noise sensitive consider placing Pro Models away from living areas.

Locations that reach below freezing

If it gets freezing for longer than 12 hours at a time where you live, you'll need our Hot & Cold Plunge to prevent freezing.

If you have a standard cold Plunge and temperatures will be below freezing you must drain your Plunge, disconnect and empty the water from your chiller, and empty the water in your water filter housing unit. You will then need to store your chiller and water filter housing inside. If the appropriate steps are not taken to prevent freezing damage the warranty will be void.

Yes. It comes with insulated spa cover. It has straps with clips that can be locked.

It will vary a lot depending on the temperature outside, direct sunlight on the unit, and the set temp. At 72 degrees and set temp of 45 degrees, the standard unit uses 4Kwh per day which is ~$1.

From our indoor testing at 72 degrees: Standard: 2.5 degrees per hour. Pro: 8-10 degrees per hour.

Yes, we ship all over the world. Send an email to info@thecoldplunge.com with the exact address we might be shipping to. It can sometimes take our team up to 5 business days to get an international quote sent back to you.

International Customers might need to purchase a step up / step down converter to meet electrical specs.

The water heats from 50 degrees to 103 degrees in around 12 hours.

In our test using a microphone in front of the Plunge, it was 53 decibels and the Plunge Pro is 61 decibels. You'll hear the sound of a fan when the chiller is running and a constant bubbling (not jets like a hot tub). The Plunge Pro is a much stronger fan sound than the normal unit.
